We are thrilled to be co-hosting a trunkshow in Houston on Friday October 4th! For such a thoughtful curator, we simply had to ask her some more questions...
- " The Nat Note is my attempt to condense all things I love into a newsletter that I hope brings some joy, welcome distraction and buyer’s high to everyday life. "
- Natalie Steen
We’d love to hear your story... how did The Nat Note begin?
The Nat Note started in 2017 – I was a few months into my corporate law job and found myself awake and waiting for emails at strange hours, with not much else to do but online shop. I was sending a lot of “you should buy this” messages to family and friends, and eventually channeled this late-night, deep-diving,compulsive-shopping energy into what it is now: a newsletter to share the products and brands that catch my eye each week.
Eventually, this side-project evolved into its own kind of vocation. No longer was it “a creative outlet that’s just for fun” - it became what it is today: a comprehensive shopping guide sent in the form of a newsletter to loyal subscribers.
- " A hostess makes sure her guests have a great time, but a smart one makes sure she gets in on the fun"
What is your favorite part about hosting an event or gathering at home?
I love celebrating (anything) with the people I love. Filling my home with family and friends and conversation and laughter is what it’s all about.
What does your ideal dinner party look like?
Good lighting, good music, good company. Good cocktails also help! I also believe in outsourcing and delegating the parts of hosting you don’t enjoy so that you can be a guest at your own party. A hostess makes sure her guests have a great time, but a smart one makes sure she gets in on the fun. While setting a table brings me joy, cooking for others stresses me out - so I stay in my lane and call in help where I need it. After all - what’s the point of throwing a party if you don’t get to enjoy it?
How do you plan your outfits when hosting at home?
When hosting at my own house, I always opt for comfort but still aim to set the right party vibe. A fabulous pajama-esque pant set paired with fancy flats communicates the message: come on in and get comfy because this is likely going to be a late one.

- " If I were registering today, I would probably include all the pretty tableware for me, the best espresso maker for my husband, and the chicest backgammon board for us both"
We love that you are not afraid of prints! How do you think about mixing colors and prints when it comes to a tablescape?
I approach dressing a table similarly to how I approach dressing myself. I'm drawn to bold and colorful - the
working limitation being that I want it to be aesthetically pleasing. Things don’t have to (and shouldn’t) match perfectly - but I think they should coexist in harmony.
What are the top 5 must-have pieces that every bride should register for?
I think it depends on who the bride (and groom) is! I am no good in the kitchen –and though I was very aware of this back when I was creating my own registry, that didn't stop me from adding all the pretty Le Creuset things to it. With nearly 8 years of marriage comes some wisdom and self awareness – and if I were registering today, I would probably include all the pretty tableware for me, the best espresso maker for my husband, and the chicest backgammon board for us both.
If you had to redo your wedding registry with Collecto pieces, what would your table look like?
A little like this.....
